Manchester City fans were treated to an early Christmas gift as their new club crest was revealed four days before the official unveiling.
The Etihad club had planned to reveal the crest in their Boxing Day fixture against Sunderland, but it appears that the Intellectual Property Office had other ideas and leaked the newly trademarked design on their official website.

The new crest harks back to City's past, featuring a golden galleon and a Lancashire red rose embossed on a retro circular badge.
However, response to the new design was mixed with many fans already voicing their disapproval, citing its lack of originality and strong resemblance to the BBC's Blue Peter badge.
Perhaps this is one Christmas gift those fans wish they could return?
